The course aims to upgrade and update the engine personnel’s knowledge, skills, and understanding of the principles of electrical motor control necessary to perform wiring installation, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical control devices and power circuit equipment on board ships.
Training Outcome/s:
- discuss the fundamentals of electrical control systems and their applications on board ships
- use appropriate control and protective devices in electrical motor control circuits
- apply a full-voltage starting method in a motor control system
- differentiate the methods of reduced-voltage starting motor control systems
- modify various motor control configurations in marine applications
