Electro-Technical Rating Course
This Electro-Technical Rating (ETR) course aims to provide a structured training program on the specific skills and competence required to acquire the necessary knowledge, understanding, and proficiency of candidates for certification as ETR by Regulation III/7 of the STCW’78 Convention, as amended.
Training Outcome/s:
To meet the minimum standard of competence for all trainees assigned to shipboard duties as required in Section A-III/7 of the STCW Code, this course is designed to enable participants to demonstrate the competencies as Electro-Technical Rating, specifically in the following areas:
- Function 1: Electrical, electronic, and control engineering at the support level
- Safe use and operation of electrical equipment;
- Contribute to monitoring the operation of electrical systems and machinery; and
- Use hand tools, as well as electrical and electronic measurement equipment, for fault finding, maintenance, and repair operations.
- Function 2: Maintenance and Repair at the support level
- Contribute to shipboard maintenance and repair; and
- Contribute to maintaining and repairing electrical systems and machinery on board.
- Function 3: Controlling the operation of the ship and caring for persons on board at the support level
- Contribute to the handling of stores;
- Apply precautions and contribute to the prevention of pollution of the marine environment; and
- Apply occupational health and safety procedures.
