Another season, another milestone was achieved with the grand Opening Ceremony of the UMTC Basketball League (UBL) Season X—a project of UMTC’s Managing Director, Engr. Donald Bautista. What started as a simple work-life balance initiative promoting employee well-being has transformed into a highly anticipated community-wide basketball league, serving as a beacon of unity within the maritime industry.

This season would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors, who continue to champion the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and community spirit. There are 14 participating teams from partner companies, governing maritime bodies, and local community units.

The opening night was nothing short of electrifying. The ceremony started with an energetic performance from the 628 band of Marla Pedrosa, accompanied by talented Marlow Navigation Cadets. UMTC President Tony Galvez officially welcomed the crowd of hundreds of industry guests and supporters, setting the tone for a night of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

The parade of teams was truly a sight to behold, with each team marching proudly and showcasing their creative and vibrant uniforms. Our esteemed judges helped the crowd choose the night winner: Tony Galvez, Lyn Bacani from Marino World, Gabriel Prats from TEACA, Galileo Garcia from MARINA, and Rojelio Velarde from Rojvel Trading and Enterprise.

The ceremony reached a heartfelt highlight when MARINA Division Chief STCW of General Manager Galileo Garcia delivered a moving message, followed by Crossworld Marine Services President Capt. Levy Capayas, who both underscored the importance of collaboration in strengthening the maritime industry.

The stunning muses graced the stage, radiating confidence and elegance, adding more excitement to the festivities. The entertainment continued with an electrifying performance from D's Band, UMTC's official band led by Donald Bautista, proving that his leadership transcends both the boardroom and the basketball court.

After an evening of cheers and celebrations, the night concluded with the much-awaited awarding of special recognition:

The ceremony culminated with the Oath of Sportsmanship led by Mr. Bautista, who also serves as the playing coach of the UMTC Titans Team. His heartfelt gratitude to all partners and players resonated deeply, acknowledging their unwavering support for the league's decade-long journey.

The official jump ball, led by Joost Mes, Marlow Navigation Owner's Representative, marked the start of another exciting season — a celebration of passion, teamwork, and the enduring spirit of the maritime community.

As UBL celebrates its 10th season, it stands as a testament to how sports can foster unity, camaraderie, and a culture of excellence. The same values propel UMTC toward greater heights in the maritime training industry.

With the echoes of the opening night still reverberating, UMTC remains Anchored in Excellence — on and off the court.

The UBL Season 10 playoffs schedule will be posted on UMTC's Facebook Page.
